Getting a custom cue made allows you to get exactly what you want in regard to length, weight, composition, look and feel.
The best way to start this process is to shoot with as many different cues as you can and see what you prefer to play with.
These are the things that we need to work together on to get the best cue for you:
- Length of cue. Cues were traditionally made at 1448mm (57") long. But people were much shorter when this was the norm. I make cues butts and shafts in 737mm (29") and 762mm (30"). Be aware that the longer cue might not fit in your case!
- Weight is really important. For example if you are looking for an extra light break cue, then lighter timbers must be chosen and a hollow section in the butt further decreases weight. If you want a very heavy cue, then heavier timbers can be used, and weights added. Hit with a few different cues and find what you prefer. But all my cues are made with an adjustable weight system, so if you want to change the weight a little, this is no problem.
- The composition of your cue can vary a lot. All my cues have a solid maple core with other timbers bonded to the core. The joint pin can be made to suit whatever you require. I currently have pins in 5/8"x18, 3/8"x10 regular and flat bottom, Uniloc Quick Release, Radial and Wavy. But if you want something else, it can be done. Shafts can be made from Maple, Kielwood or Carbon Fibre.
- The cue can have forearm and butt sleeve points, as well as inlays to customize the look of your cue.
